Getting around
The part of Ixelles next to Place du Luxembourg is walkable to the Parliament and the Quarter. Further out, trams and buses connect Flagey with the centre, and Porte de Namur is on metro lines 2 and 6.
Check the specific street: journey times to the institutions vary a lot between the north and south of the commune.
What it is like to live here
Chaussée d'Ixelles and the Matongé quarter have a dense mix of cafés, shops and restaurants. Place Flagey, the Ixelles ponds and the Abbaye de la Cambre give the commune its green and its calmer corners.
The ULB Solbosch campus is in Ixelles, so parts of the commune have a student feel, and some streets are noisier because of it.
